6 October 2007 - Concert in the Pink

Last Sunday afternoon over 200 music lovers and nearly 100 performers packed the Gosford RSL Club for the "Pink Rhythm" concert presented by the Brisbane Water Brass Band and the Sing Australia Gosford Choir.
Everything necessary to stage the concert, including the Gosford RSL Club venue, was donated by local organisations and individuals in the community. The proceeds of over $4500 from the concert were donated to the Central Coast Health Service to assist in the purchase of diagnostic equipment for breast cancer surgery.
President of Brisbane Water Brass Ken Townsend said, “Although Brisbane Water Brass is 4 years old, we have received wonderful support from the community. Raising these funds to support local women with breast cancer is our way of saying ‘Thankyou’.”
“The Sing Australia Gosford Choir was delighted to participate in this initiative,” said Leader, Russell Roberts. “We always welcome the opportunity to bring music to people. It has been great to help raise money for this purpose.”
Jill Warwicker, Central Coast Health’s Fundraising Co-ordinator said, “We are most grateful to receive the funds raised at this concert that will enable us to help women with breast cancer on the Central Coast through the purchase of a Sentinal Node Biopsy Probe. We are very fortunate to have people in the community like Brisbane Water Brass and Sing Australia who are willing to use their talents to help others.”
Both the band and the choir perform at many community functions throughout the Central Coast each year. They welcome enquiries for possible performances, and also would like to hear from prospective members. Contact 4368 1042 (band) or 4369 1161 (choir).
16 August 2007 - Our Musical Director Equals Record!

Jonathan won the Open Tenor Horn section for the ninth time, and was Champion of Champions for a record-equalling sixth time.
Music plays a very important part in Jonathan’s life. He is also President of the Band Association of NSW.
“Music has given so much to me, and it is a pleasure to have the opportunity to give something back to it,” said Jonathan.
“Brisbane Water Brass is very fortunate to have such a talented and dedicated musician as Jonathan for our Musical Director,” said our President Ken Townsend. “Through his efforts, the band’s musical development during its short four year life has been most impressive.”
Congratulations, Jonathan!
